... I'm sure you all recognize as a type of cheese! However, it is also the home of the Callier (partnered with Nestlé) chocolate factory! We went on an awesome tour of the factory - chocolate tasting INCLUDED - before actually going into town. The air actually smelled like chocolate as we exited the bus. When we entered the town, we wandered around and took photos of the old ramparts and city walls, mountains, churches, cobblestone streets, and ...

I spent the first two days of the new year with sister Helen sharing some very enjoyable skiing . The weather was again superb, full sunshine and clear skies. In fact the weather on Friday actually climbed up above zero, only just but we could feel the difference. John and I headed into Annecy this morning, me to return my rental car to Avis firstly because it doesn't have winter tyres so is not safe on snowy or icy roads. I assumed when I ordered the car it would definitely have winter tyres, after all we're so close to the alps. But no, not Avis. Plus I've hardly used the car as John has kindly driven me virtually everywhere I've needed to go. John needed repairs completed in Annecy to his hearing ...

... the bikes was that we got lost, and ended up doing twice the distance as we doubled back to get on the right path. But it was worth the walking - one path went alongside some quite dingy houses whilst the other path went past beautiful villas and mansions. So our error meant we got to see both sides to life in Chambery! The main tracks to the hill top started from a park that was obviously dog lovers heaven (yes Maureen and Deb - you both would have loved it!!). There was mayhem as ...
