Love this spot. Like a little version of Venice with its little canals running through the old village, cobblestoned streets, bridges, old buildings. Beautiful. Full of tourists! Dave wants to retire here! The lake s a stunning turquoise colour, I've never seen a lake like it.
Excellent cycling through the alps. Great cycle paths set out. We hired bikes for a day, and had a great day cycling around Lake Annecy. We also did the pedal boats ...

Belley Large city with interesting history and Great Wall paintings in The Alps. Aire on edge of town nice spot next to the playing fields. Services didn't work but waste disposal okay. Late arrival for us. It's 6pm. I know, how did we end up here? It had an Aire that's whys! Flying ever north since it wouldn't stop raining in the mountains and the cloud base was so low we couldn't see the ...

We put our jackets on for the ride down, but soon realised we needed our leg warmers ...

... of aluminium foil to wrap it all. The waitresses didn't seem to mind so we grabbed a couple of rolls and chocolatines for our picnic. This was doubly handy as we hadn't managed to buy any snacks the previous evening, due to the 'Eight 8' contravening the trades descriptions act (or EU equivalent) by closing at 7:45pm.

Slightly later start today to let the ROC des Alpes mountain bike race get out of the way. After all, would have been slightly embarrassing for them to have ...

Distance: 79km Cumulative distance: 3068km - we've made 3 mega metres! Woohoo! Riding conditions: back roads, mountain passes Weather: clouds, rain Elevation gain: 1660m (from Guidebook) You can ignore everything I said about France being sunny. It's not. It proved me wrong quite spectacularly today. We started the ride early as today is Sunday. Within 1km we were climbing a hill, the guidebook averages out the gradient, so it came out to be 3% for 10km ...
