... we visited Monpazier, a small village of 500 or so people in the Dordogne area. It is a 13th century Bastide town founded and built by King Edward 1st of England. Eleanor of Aquitane and Richard 2nd of England also lived there for a while. This probably explains why their are so many poms living in this area - they are probably all descendants of the Kings! Home to do a lap of Issigeac, then Garth cooked a magnificent Norwegian salmon for ...

... stop was Cordes-Sur-Ciel, a small fortified Bastide town built in 1222, and perched high on a hill-top not far from Albi. It has the most gorgeous stone houses with wooden frames, which despite being centuries old are beautifully renovated. Our second stop was ...

When we stepped out of the car we could smell the heady aroma of fermenting grapes, and we noticed that ...

... for upwards of 10,000+ years! In these caves dotted throughout the valley, hundreds of cave drawings and paintings, both polychrome and single colour, have been discovered, some of them dating back to 15,000 BC!

We did a day trip to Les-Eyzies-de-Tayec-Sireuil (thankfully just called Les Eyzies!) to check out the Musee National de Prehistoire and ...

Rest day at Sainte foy la grande

A travel blog entry by judilawler on Jul 30, 2014

Day 4 Rest day at Christines house. Sitting up in bed with a cuppa at 8am, luxury. Breaky on the terraace ,fresh croissants and coffee, weak sunshine chickens clucking, dog smooching & 2 cats sleeping. The strapping on my foot has irritated my skin, so a day out of boots will help. A few red patches on both legs & a bit of fluid on my ankle, something new!. The sandals are very comfy. Had a short walk in their village with a lake, families boating & swimming. ...
