      Today was our day visit to Rouen, about an hour and a quarter by main line train from Paris, and well worth the time and cost: it is a lovely city, with lots to see and enjoy. The original purpose of the visit was simply to see Caravaggio's Flagellation of the Christ, but we soon realised that the town itself is worth seeing.       1 oct -Rouen Busy looking around at shops. Lunch at the Vietnam cuisine the unique way of weighing your selection of dish ..       ... called inside for dinner. Being the lucky people we are, we were on the VIP table with the bride and groom. Dinner was served as entree, main, cheese course, dessert and cake (which was a croquembouche) then tea and coffee out where the cake was in another room. In between the courses there were speeches and odd French games that had been organised mainly by Jean-Marie's friends. It was something like what we would do for an 18th or 21st birthday with videos ...

      ... I'm not in Paris, then the elderly love it when you smile at them. I like to think that maybe the French were a little more expressive back in their heyday.
      -Accessible toilets: This is largely just because Paris is a big city and not necessarily a French thing, but it is nearly impossible to find a free toilet! McDonald's has pass codes on their bathrooms. PASS CODES! Even the train station you have to pay 50 cents to use the ...
