Blois is located on the banks of the Loire river, south west of Paris. So, this little place that not many people have heard of, what was the reason for going there. Well, just a 20 minute train ride away to Amboise is the Château du Clos Luce, the place where Leonardo Da Vinci spent his last ...

We decide to drive into Biarittz. It looks like a lovely town. We drive to the beach and it is rainy and overcast but it is still good to see it.

... and headed off on my mission. I was looking for Princesse Tim Tam as this is where I needed to turn right. As I turned the first corner it was a mall area with tram tracks - reminded me of Melbourne's Bourke street mall. It was very commercial and there was a bustling crowd. I was conscious of looking conspicuous with my oversized and still quite heavy bag. I didn't see Princesse Tim Tam but I did see the street name and was relieved to see the hotel only a block away - ...

... which the Loire valley is so famous for, first on to Chambord which has to be the prettiest and largest of them all and owned by the state, a true fairy tale castle in the middle of a huge forest – 5,440 hectares enclosed by a 32km long wall, it was all very beautiful. I didn't go inside this one as I had heard that chateau Cheverny contained better furniture and features and I am not one for spending too much time looking at ...
