... of the fences in front of some of the houses. It was so sweet and pretty! I loved it. We went to go into her house but our tickets were only for Versailles. But because they were closing up they let us scoot in for free which was great. We got to walk round the house and the gardens, past the temple of love (on lots of postcards) and the other various cottages in the area. We ate dinner at an Italian restaurant in the middle of a plaza, where the locals were a little subdued, as the French football team had just been beaten in the world cup by Germany! Probably not the best idea to cycle after vino but we considered the route back a safe one and it ...

They had a massive wood wheel that 6 or so monks would walk in and that would wind a sled full of granite up an almost vertical slop that was about 80m high. We think we're so clever these days but what these guys were able to do... And the fact they weren't daunted by the time it would take or the effort. Very inspiring.

Once we left MSM we were headed for ...
