... slow motion and nothing you can do to help. There are these poles in the middle of the trail to prevent cars from driving on the trails and someone ran smack into it and flipped over the bike. She ended up being fine other than a cut chin and a big fright. Glad I brought the spray I was given to for my knee so I can be of a bit of help. She was a trooper and got back on and we continued the ride. Had nice conversation with fellow bikers as we traveled through this nice town. ...

... it is really amazing and while we were there we chatted with the owner of the shop. It turns out her grandmother (whose photo was on the wall with the typical Belgian costume) was a skilled lace maker whose work is hung on the walls of the Dutch embassy in the country of Belarusse. She showed us photos of her grandmother's lace and it was amazing! So of course we had to buy some of the lacework. The Lace Hotel is perfectly placed and simply furnished, but in a stylish what is now called boutique way.

Black and white predominate, with unusual chandeliers, and clean styling.Our room is not huge, but perfectly adequate, with an efficient hot shower, and windows which overlook an assortment of roofs and chimneys which are charming.

The smell was not, but we both crashed out pretty quickly ...

I felt like a little jet setter as I got home Thursday night around midnight, woke up on Friday to unpack one bag and repackage another for the long weekend in Belgium. Friday - I meet Shane at Kings Cross at midday and we hopped on hopped Eurostar to arrive in Brussels 2 hours later. We then got on another train to Bruges and arrived in the dark and drizzle.
