    ... I'll be leaving a day earlier, spending 8 hours at the JFK airport in NY, spending 22 hours in Shanghai, and arriving in Bali 2 hours earlier then original schedule. I'm sticking with the positive - I'll get a quick view of Shanghai now. That hotel is booked & Visa not necessary since this is a transit stop and I have a departing ticket within 72 hours.

    Starting to look at what to pack - I'm glad I'm a light packer!

    Arrived in Washington dropped our stuff of at the hostel, went out for a cheeky beer at a local bar, where we met some locals and next thing we know where being dragged out for dinner at a posh French bistro who's speciality Is mussels !!!! Americans are crazy ...

    ... because of the government shutdown. Where I tend to get a little worried when I don't have everything planned out ahead of time for the next few days, Maggie's flexibility, and cheerful confidence that everything would work out fine, saved the day!

    Short term memory is not my strong suit these days, so if I've left out something huge, or got my facts wrong, I hope Maggie, or any of you, will feel free to correct me!

    ... moved onto The White House. Looking at the main entrance with like cops, body guards etc even an ambulance was sitting right in front with the engine running. Talk about a waist of tax payers money. You would think they would have their own doctor inside. Everywhere we went today there was security aka Men in Black.
