... Lahore. Elle a tenu. Difficilement.
Vers 3:30 du matin, tout le monde a été débarqué du train en gare de Lahore. Confusion nocturne. On m'a heureusement guidé vers le train de rechange. Déjà bien plein.
Nous ne sommes repartis qu'à 5:30.
Et le reste du trajet m'a paru interminable. Chaque fois que je pensais qu'on approchait enfin du but, celui-ci semblait s'éloigner. Comme si les distances (ou le temps) s'allongeaient. Mis à part l'état déplorable ...

Regarding the escorts, we had guards in the cab of the truck: 3, pick-ups: 3, motorbikes: 4; all to get us through the badlands and the again, unspecified danger. Bandits? Religious wars? Because of the proximity to Afghanistan? We were travelling parallel to the border and looked across the flat rocky land to the Afghan hills. I learnt nothing of the danger, but increased my Urdu vocabulary by one word: bandu – rifle.
