Less than 4 weeks to go.....

... gesture. We can't change the world but we can change the way these children start off in life and who knows where that will lead....

It is less than 4 weeks now until I leave. There is much to do. I am trying to prepare myself for "teaching" 20 - 25 children. A bit of a challenge that. Much as I have known that I have always wanted to do something like this, now that it ...

Gorges Verdon... Route Napoleon

... wine bottle and then we thought they were off on the trail, but no they got in the car and drove on!
At the end of the gorge we joined the road towards Cannes, which was route Napoleon, orginially created by him as a pass through the mountains...very windy. Our destination for the evening was Grasse where we found a good park overlooking the city lights and our first view of the Med.

Since we have until the 5th off Becca and I decided to take a trek up north to see some loire castles, bretagne, and the mont saint michel.

well apparently since the south of france gets about 300 days of sunshine it has to spend a years worth of rain in one go, and there was crazy flooding on friday morning. it took me a very awkward hour and a half car ride with eve yo get to school. of course when i got there my teachers didn't ...

Antibes and St-Tropez

Cannes is not as glamrous as we thought it would be, it still has all the fancy smancy stores along the beach, but there were definitely no red carpets rolled out when we were there. We did a day trip to St-Tropez, its was the end of a hge sailing competitiona and tons of ...

Almost Bastille Day

... t manage to catch it on the camera. We first stopped at one small square where there were people dancing to a small band. Good music and everybody was having a great time. We bought some drinks, no idea what they were, but they only cost 1 Euro each. It was a lovely warm evening, I had taken my shawl with me, but really didn't need it. Next stop was the covered 'Market', that place changes continually, in the mornings they ...

Exploring the city of Nice Day 1

... but I was tempted to go check out the beach...I've lived near the water for most of my life and coming from Florida, I've seen a lot of beaches in my time, so even though I wasn't that horribly into seeing the beach, I still wanted to see it so that I could at least say "hey, I've been to the beach at Nice, y'all!" So I walk down some steps to get off the Promenade des Anglais and get on the beach. I had no intentions of going for a swim, for ...

(At this point we had arrived at the entrance to the station.) You have saved my life! Him: It's nothing. Me: Let me pay you for... Him: No, no. Good day! (Exit young European man.) Gosh, people in this city are nice! 3. Buying my train ticket was easy. Sitting was good. I almost boarded the wrong train (my ...

St. Tropez and Les Filles Francaises a la BOITE

... to torture the "poor" like us. Did I mention there's only 4 busses a day to and from the beach? Everyone else just drives their porsches and pays the 8Euro/hour parking fees. I later found out that Paris Hilton was there on that same beach where I was but I never saw her. I only saw old naked people. Being exhausted after the walk back up the hill to the unmarked bus stop (thank god we asked) we decided to go back early to Hyeres especially since we were considering going ...
