Chicago to San Francisco by train
... was spectacular. We passed through gorges with swirling rivers due to recent rainfall, flat areas that reminded Peter and I of the landscape in the Australian outback, and then industrial areas around the towns. Love Affair with Everywhere: Packing....
... the summer in Chicago. I must say, when I was sitting on a bus in London reading Shantaram on my Kindle and the guy next to me was reading the same holding the 929 page book, I was sold!
Paper and pen: Always! I have a notepad and pen in the Kindle case for any random notes (even though I tend to mostly write on bar/paper napkins).

A Day in Chicago
... bread with marinara sauce and a small piece of their thin crust pizza. It was only about 5 minutes until we were seated. Larry and Derek got a pitcher of Goose Island 312. Larry and Derek split a 12' Malnati Classic Pizza. I ordered the Lour's individual size. They were cheesier but very tasty. Mine had spinach, mushrooms, sliced roma tomatoes. We got back to hotel after 8:00, blogged, looked at email, watched the Wisconsin/Nebraska game, and went to bed.

The search for a new handbag is over
... Mansion, aka Hugh Heffner’s former house – as the guide book said, it looked rather sedate given what went on inside it! I cycled on to the Old Town, most of which pre-dates the Chicago Fire of 1871. There are no wooden houses within Chicago city limits, as building in wood was prohibited after the fire, but one or two were built here in Old Town.
