... not sure why these small towns exist. We are here because they have a motel - admittedly it is not in the town, if you can call it a town centre. However next to the motel there is a Yankee Candle - it is huge - a candle, Christmas, homeware store - they give you a map to find your way around. They even have a restaurant and that is where we had diner - it was great food - they had jazz musicians - and we even received a candle - what more could you want. Mileage: 165 ...

Originally built in 1908 as a trolley bridge that crossed over the Deefield River from Shelburne Falls to Buckland, the 400 foot, five arch concrete span was used until 1928 when the trolley was no longer used. The next year the bridge was transformed into the Bridge of Flowers, the project taken on by the Shelburne Falls Women's Club. Well off we set at 8:30 am to venture along the hwy to get closer to Cooperstown. The toll roads are enough to break you. One we hit in Maine was $7.50, another $4.00 and another at $ 3.50, yikes.
We decided to take the #2 thru the top of Massachusetts which became a much more sensible drive to do. Very scenic along the way, but did not stop to take any pictures as Greg seems to be in groove. I must ...

... bursts of home when we at times felt like we were forever away. It seems surreal that we accomplished all we did on this trip, I look back over pictures and blog entries and cannot believe all we have experienced this summer. Now I need a vacation to recover from this vacation! If anyone needs me (or wants to visit!) I will be at our pool because I am not leaving my house for at least a week! ~ ...

... a vacation without some bumps and bruises? With Alex on the camera down the rocks I go, dunking the front of the kayak as I enter the water. What a rush that little hill provided. Next stop, a waterfall. All in all, this was an awesome experience, with Alex and I no longer planning on rafting again. We are now kayakers. I had 2 dunkings on the trip down and Alex the one. What an experience.
