Past Auckland

As we had a beautiful house to stay in Tauranga we stayed

there for 2 nights but we come back to decide to move North

of Auckland, North of the ugly European Auckland busy city

and surf to a wonderful place 40km of North of it. We are

there now in nature away from the busy world and enjoying

the camp ground (Maman, ces photos de notre diner sont pour

toi :-) )

... only one toilet's in operation because the trolley thats been blocking the isle for the last 45 mins is now blocking one of the ******* doors. Fack they're useless. I'm pretty thirsty by now and my **** has just made room for more water so I cleverly decide to combine the **** trip with a water request. The dude looks flustered and say's "We're just setting the trolley up now for drinks so will be up there soon". Facking liar, another half hour passes and for the first time i ...

Not so tough are we? Back to the floor with no ill effects on my knee though I did place a cushion underneath it just to reduce any abnormal twisting. Robs late night at his friends Outdoor experience means that we aren't starting too early and the weather report is suggesting an afternoon of duck friendly conditions. All we have to do today is to Sand and prime six windows an easy day. The odd sprinkling of rain doesn't affect our progress and we finish ...

Tues 3rd March - Ron's Birthday Ron had planned to go fishing for his birthday - unfortunately things don't always go to plan and he ran into a stake herding up some sheep. After rushing to the doctors and getting a check up, scans etc. a tear to a muscle meant alot of limping but fortunately nothing more serious than that. In the evening. Ester, Andy, Jenny and I all went down to see Jenny E perform some of her own material with a guitar songwriter friend at the ...

... people wandering about the camp site including one guy who looks like Santa. Seriously, Santa lives in a motel cabin in Auckland because YOU PEOPLE DON'T BELIEVE IN HIM! I walked by him last night and saw him sitting in his cabing in his underwear eating a ready meal on a wee tray in front of what I think was a tv. It might not have been a tv, it might just have been a wall. I cried a little at this..... So after we cleared the car of all our stuff ...

New Zealand Auckland to Paihai

... smashing and we decided to take a dip. Apparently it is called the navana of snorkeling but we didn't see anything you had to go further out!! Then we drove through Whangarei onto Paihai seeing some fantastic scenery along the way and driving on some steep and winding roads which Albert definately wouldn't have managed!! ( bless him!!) We decided to park ourselves just on the outskirts of the village at a nice little campsite next to the sea ...

... but it can be dangerous crossing the street when you look the wrong way for oncoming traffic. But all in all, it reminds us of home. The New Zealanders even act and dress similar to us. Our luck is continuing on perfect weather conditions. The day before we entered port; the humidity was close to 100 per cent. But that was yesterday. They are telling us that there is a chance of showers today and it looks like the rain clouds are with us. But instead of raining on ...

Drive to Matakana

... was no shade. We were joined for lunch by a flock of sea gulls and it was fun to watch the hierarchy at work. We nicknamed three of the birds ("leader ", "second in command" and "bad beak"). The beach was of white sand and we both went swimming in the sea which had huge waves. While body boarding on one wave, Steve was flipped right over in a forward roll and had his head slammed against the floor. A final stop was at the Whangerai Falls, which would have ...

Sydney to Dome Valley (NZ) via Auckland - Day 250

... parks. Then I headed to Wenderholm regional park to stretch my legs. The park hugs the south pacific coastline where the wide Waiwera river flows into the ocean. I had a walk along the beach before following the Couldrey house track to a lookout over looking the park and the old Couldrey homestead. Feeling completely knackered today after the early start this morning and I think I've caught a cold too ...

... have learnt you can only compare like with like, the Kauri being as impressively majestic. The two biggest are 'The God of the Forest' (Tane Mahuta), which is 51 metres high and 14 metres in girth and 'Father of the Forest' (Te Matua Ngahere) 30 metres high and 17 metres girth. Definitely awesome sights. The road twisted for 9 miles through the thick tropical forest, with several sights of tall ...
