The day started at 3:30, or more precisely after hitting the snooze 3:37. That's a.m. and for me, a night owl, well that was 2.5 hours to try to sleep. It didn't work so well, but I got some.
Arriving one hour before departure is not quite enough for Southwest -- they want you a hour before boarding. But my suitcases made it on with pretty yellow labels for Late Arrival.

Really fun, short ride today. We got to cross into Idaho and only rode 35 miles. Our lodging tonight was camp twinlow and it was an awesome little secluded summer camp on a lake. We also got to go drive some logging roads and do a little hiking up into the mountains. It was an awesome day and I got to get to know a couple more guys pretty well. What an awesome group of guys all working towards something ...

... run course, like every other portion of the race, consisted of 2 out-and-backs. The first few miles were in nearby neighborhoods, pumped up with music and energy, then the rest was out along the lake, turning around after going up and over a rather large hill. Then you turn around and go right back up and over it, knowing that you have to do it all again. Having to do that twice is tough mentally, especially because you don't know if the people around you are on their first ...
