Heading out of Portland and north on 'Highway 1'. We are in Maine a couple of weeks after the peak season for 'Fall' has finished. We are not missing out though, the colours are amazing and the trees are still turning. We can see that where the weather may have been windy some of the trees are already bare. The current keeper talked to us about ...

... house mayo and brown butter vinaigrette. Mark went with the Brown Butter Vinaigrette, which was the most popular and definitely the one I should have ordered. The waitress forgot my order, was afraid to admit it and brought us a basket of homemade chips to appease us -- it totally worked. Full and happy, we hopped back on the highway and headed north towards Brunswick, ME to take a driving tour of Bowdoin.

But first, pit stop at the L L Bean Outlet to take ...
