so i decided to sketch in cork

everyone went to blarney, well everyone except alex and i. so we got to explore cork and see the opera house, which we sketched from a cafe with a really weird waiter who insisted on seeing our sketches after we were done, because "he had a moleskine too, at home" okay. cool. then we ventured off around the city and found a church and sat ...

Charles Fort, Kinsale Harbor, Cobh

... town was the last stop of the Titanic before it sank. It was a little rainy on the drive there and we really couldn't agree on whether or not to take the ferry across to get to the town. Finally decided on the ferry because that was the way the GPS wanted us to take.
Cobh was a really cool, cute little town with a magnificent Chucho on the the top of a hill overlooking the bay. We decided to go up to ...

... a line, but it went quick. I did kiss the stone, but mom didn't because she didn't want to get on her back to have to do it. We then went over to the Blarney House and walked the grounds. For lunch, we ate a little Irish tavern in the town right outside the Castle.
Our next stop was the beautiful St Finbarre's Church in Cork. I wanted mom to see some of the amazing European churches and this was great example. At first, we thought it was closed ...

Guinness and Irish Whiskey...oh to be born Irish!

A quick few days but man was it worth the trip, caught up with great folk met in Peru, John and Haydee, got to sample some triple ditilled Irish Whiskey, a night on the Guinness and a wee kiss on the Blarney Stone to ensure the gift of the gab...sweet days indeed....tbc

Before I go.....

It's the day before I leave for Dublin, the backpack has been packed, emptied, packed again, emptied again, brought back into the shop where i bought it for adjusting, and now its sitting at the bottom of the stairs calling to me, waiting for me to load it up. I have tried walking around the gaf with it fully loaded, but my small frame and non existent centre of gravity causes me to kinda sway when i have it on. Hmm......., how will I survive roughing it? Stay tuned to find out!!!!

... came with cream and strawberry jam on the side. I only ordered a bun! Tipperary itself was not much at all. A couple of uninteresting streets and the usual churches. Maybe we were becoming hardened to the delights of the Irish towns. Out of Tipperary the road actually climbed into some hills that looked back over the town and around the corner there was the vista over the valley to Cork. On to Cork. Now that was long way. We had decided to miss out on the ...

... sure if it was hunger, the weather or the mangy one-eared cat that keeps skulking around my place. That cat scares me. Then I had the plague or shall I say the flu for a couple of days, other than my bout of food poisoning in France, I'd say I was pretty lucky, but didn't get out of bed for a couple of days, which was just as well as we here in Cork had a major flood! There was five feet of water in the downtown core, cars floated, there were a couple of rescue efforts ...
