Wine Tasting in Palisade
... explain that in the middle of Palisade there is an intersection that has the hippie brewery, the distillery, a winery and a medical marijuana shop (which thanks to amendment 64 is now just a pot shop.) Needless to say it is not the best section of town but it could be one stop shopping for some. Anyway, Eric tasted the tequilas and bourbons and was quite impressed. I decided to take over the driving so passed on the liquor.

We decided that was enough adventure for one day and went to the Double Tree to check in. We relaxed and freshened up and Eric took me to dinner in town. We went to 626 on Rood where the served tapas and flights of wine. Most of there food is locally grown and organic and it was delicious. The best part was my menu said Happy Birthday Deb right across the top. We had a great day today and I am looking forward to exploring more tomorrow.

... 89 between Panguitch and Interstate 70, was really pretty. More rocks -- some yellowish, some really red, some a light green that we think indicates copper. We stopped to take pictures at one spot where someone seemed to be collecting railroad stuff, especially cabooses. Made an interesting juxtaposition with the hills in the background.

When we finally got him to understand that our final destination was Grand Junction, CO, his luggage tag machine stopped working. So he had to write all six tags by hand.
