Think palm trees, crashing surf almost at your feet, white Christmas tree lights wrapped around the trunks of all trees, candles everywhere, the murmurs of Spanish everywhere, and no mosquitoes! And, the main reason we loved it, Sawyer was surfing from the "line up" and, nothing makes my heart sing like a Sawyer Smile!

... hot dog was prepared! As we were preparing to leave, a couple of tourist coaches passed us taking holidaymakers to Liberia to catch the 3.15am American Airlines flight back to winter in the US. We on the other hand had a lovely 10 minute walk back to our hotel. The night sky was ablaze with stars and from the fields around us came the chorus of crickets.

Amberjacks in Gulf of Nicoya
... catching amberjack's again. The next one was Alex's and the largest of the day at about 20lbs. That might not sound like much, but those 'jacks really know how to fight. Mike had to help Alex hold onto the pole while Alex did the reeling. All total we caught seven fish; not the giant yellow tuna we had been hoping for, but a respectable day out.

Odd housekeeping item of the day: we can't find regular dish soap here. There is this stuff that comes in a cake that is a little like polish and doesn't bubble much. I don't care for it, but it gets the dishes clean. The brand we have is lavaplatos (wash dishes). There is a reason why Colgate/Palmolive has done so well. I miss liquid dish soap, never mind the dish washer.
