The Unknown Trail and More
... another couple from Washington and visited with the for a bit. It's always fun to share stories and campsites with others of the same ilk. It was a hot one here today, getting up to eighty six degrees. We did sit out under the awning and read a bit, kept tolerably cool by the breeze. We have electric power for the next two nights, so the AC was a great help.

A different side of Tucson
... just so-so. The falls and rocky area at the end of the trail were quite nice and we sat for a bit to enjoy it and have a snack. The highlight was when we got to the bottom and were filling out a questionnaire with a US Forest Service Ranger. Another hiker came up and said he had just seen a gila monster a few hundred yards up the trail. We had never seen one so went back to where it was and managed to get a good picture before it scurried into some rocks. ...

... behind his garden fence is a part of a state park - reserve. We looked out and saw a pack of javelins – they look like wild pigs but are actually hoofed mammals originating from South America. The pronunciation of javelin is something like “have elyna”.
