Going Loco down in Acapulco
Yahoo we're going loco down in Acapulco
– and how loco can you get when you book the cheapest Expedia room
for the night because you know it's going to be a loooonnnnggggg
journey, only to arrive and find your hotel closed undergoing
renovations. In fact sir, you're not staying anyway near here you
need to go another 2 k's down the road to our 5 star sister hotel –
hah, we love loco! What can I say, ...

... the government owned Pemex) - 300Pesos (about $25) for a double room with a TV, our own loo and WiFi! Bargain! Clean sheets as well ... and unlike many motels we have seen in Mexico and elsewhere in Central America, one you couldn't hire by the hour!
Once on the Pacific coast we turned west and cruised over verdant ranges down into farmed valleys, across numerous bridges their rivers, swollen by the recent rains, rushing in a muddy swirl to the sea.

... said goodbye. We were relieved… until yet another car pulled in, we decided to leave and found an RV park that was 52% Canadians (said the guy from Alberta) and the rest were from the US. We had a much better nights sleep than we would have had with cars coming and
going. A lesson learned... if we're not in the absolute boonies on a weekend, we're better off going to an rv park.

... we are happy to report, that as far as we can tell the whole joint family vacation experience was an unmitigated success (no arrests and just the one instance of gonorrhea), although we did have to withhold the final verdict until a day or two after the Dupre clan returned home and we were able to verify that, in fact, everyone they saw commented on “how brown they are”. We drove in to Mazatlan from El Fuerte on a Sunday evening. We opted to take the "cuota's" (toll roads) since they were much faster and nicer than the "libre" or free roads. We ended up paying about $24 US in tolls. The streets were pretty busy that evening. We ended up staying at Hotel Belmar, which back in it's day, was probably a nice hotel.
