... is just where we left it and we board the train for Viareggio from where we take a taxi to Pietrasanta, our base for the our visit to the Cinque Terre. The Albergo Pietrasanta is a grand 17th C. palazzo formerly known as Barsanti -Bonetti; our room is large and comfortable and the pink marble bathroom, 'to die for'. We dine on suckling pig on a bed of roasted onions at Il Circo, a pretty restaurant near the hotel, our meal is delicious and all is ...

... to drive on. Later we drove only on straight roads, not as fun for motorcycles. But hey, no stress, because every kilometre brings us closer to Croatia! In the evening we stopped on a camping along a beautiful lake, surrounded by mountains. The down side is that the camping is full with Dutch people!! The positive side is that everything is cheap ;-) We ate at the restaurant on the camping and listened to some live music. See ya ...

We have seen at least 7 ambulances and I am not surprised. There are always 2 roads, one in each direction, but between the cars, on the white line, are driving the vespas and motorbikes, in every direction! Crazy! They are driving ...

... the life of Guido's cousin Orfeo who will be sadly missed.

Boys spent the afternoon tree surfing while Gran and I caught up on some washing, it always feels great when you have a case full of clean clothes when you are traveling.
Spritz in the local piazza with enough nibbles - that always accompany pre-dinner drinks- to feed a small family!! casual walk through town before selecting the nights dinner venue. So not looking forward to cooking when I get home!!

... walk to the train station, and only about 10min on the fancy tram they have doing a loop around town so we caught the tram, got the tickets and caught the tram back a little further into the Old Town than we had been the night before. We walked through the little streets, including one that seemed to consist mainly of meat shops, and made our way to the eastern edge of the Old Town. There was a hill here which had ruins of old fortifications ...
