Historical Traveler Reviews Casas De Suenos Old Town Country Inn Albuquerque

Loved the Ambiance!

from anonymous

Very very quaint, authentic adobe retreat. Loved this bed and breakfast. Rooms make you feel like you're in old New Mexico with adobe fireplaces, beautiful gardens, and New Mexico hospitality. Don't miss it if you are in Albuquerque. Fantastic full breakfast in Sunroom dining room.

The best!

from manasota

My husband and I just returned from a week-long trip to southern New Mexico, and our stay at Casas de Suenos was the highlight of our trip. We were in the Zuni room. In addition to the usual amenities, it featured a huge room with king-sized bed, a working kiva fireplace, unique southwestern furniture (some antique), great artwork, and a bathroom with big fluffy towels. In addition, we were treated to a delicious full breakfast. The innkeepers could not have been more gracious, even providing free internet access to visitors. The location is also good - only a short walk to Old Town, and also only about 15 minutes drive to the airport. Everything about Casas de Suenos was perfect and far exceeded any hotel I've ever visited.

Delightful stay

This is a different type of B&B. There are several casitas of different size. We stayed in the Route 66 for 5 days. I could find nothing to complain about. Kitchen had everything needed to make dinner. I even came home and bought a coffee maker like the one we had in our casita. We also had an entertainment unit with a new big Sony TV, DVD player and surround sound. Lenny cooks a simple breakfast of eggs anyway you might like them. Pancakes, bagels, cereal , juices etc are also available. This B&B is very close to Old Town and other museums. A very easy walk to see them all. Wade is the evening check in person. Again he was very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this B&B for family reunions and weddings. No, I am not being paid to write this glowing review. I usually stay in big high end hotels with all sorts of services. But , Casa de Suenos went out of their way to make sure I had all that I needed. Even a computer hook up. There is wireless in the office area.

Give Casa de Suenos a try!

Enchantment in New Mexico

from govol

When heading to New Mexico, be sure to spend time in Albuquerque. And, while in Albuquerque, be sure you stay at Casas de Suenos. Conveniently located on Rio Grande, this b&b is a few blocks south of I-40. It is minutes (walking distance) from Old Town, the Albuquerque Country Club, the Botanical Gardens and Zoo and the Albuquerque Museum.

However, better than it's wonderful location is the b&b itself. It's name means "houses of dreams" and it is truly that. Each casita is unique and the decor takes you into a southwest state of mind when you walk through the door.

But, before you walk through the door you are enchanted by the gardens around which the casitas are scattered. The charm of the compound is only enhanced by the family feel of the inn and the delicious breakfast that awaits you each morning.

The inn has recently been renovated, so the furniture and furnishings are brand new. Thick towels in the bath, cozy comforter on the bed, "oh so southwest" entertainment cabinet to hold the TV, beautiful tile floors and charming dishes in the kitchen.

Go to Albuquerque, stay at Casas de Suenos, you'll be glad you did!!

Home away from Home

We stayed at the Porter Casita for 3 days in July and fell in love with the casita and the surrounding grounds. It felt like home. We had a living area, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. It was nice to stay in a few nights and cook our own dinners. Breakfast was served in the dining room just a few steps from our casita and was very good. It was a also a short walk to old town. The casita was so quiet and peaceful that we wanted to stay longer but the room was already booked for the rest of the week. If I ever go back to Albuquerque, I would stay here.

As unique as Albuquerque itself

from anonymous

I spent three days at Casas de Suenos during a recent business trip (Aug. 16-19). Although I know Albuquerque fairly well, I was looking for something different this time--convenience to the airport and downtown, quiet to allow me to work, space enough that I wouldn't feel cramped, an atmosphere of calm and relaxation, and the flavor of Albuquerque. I couldn't have found a better spot!

It's hard to believe this quiet getaway is in the city. It's a charming compound, a former art colony. My suite (Kachina) was clean and spacious, yet cozy, with its own kitchenette--and I was surrounded by the colors and textures of New Mexico culture. Breakfast was delicious, inside or outdoors in the lovely garden under a postcard-blue sky. A quick walk to nearby historic Old Town was a wonderful way to end each day.

I'm so pleased to have "discovered" Casas de Suenos. I'll definitely return!

Delightful ambiance.........

from MsEskimo13

I have to give Casas de Suenos an above average rating just because of the wonderful ambiance it possesses. I really enjoyed just walking around the gardens, and discovering all the surprises that are hidden within. We stayed in the "Rose" room, which I would describe as "shabby chic" and comfortable. We could see a blooming rose bush from the window. Quiet area, within walking distance of Old Town. The front desk personnel were very friendly, and recommended a great place for a good margarita!! I'm not a breakfast person, so I can't really review the complmentary breakfast, but the bacon did smell good when I walked through the dining area on my way to turn in the key. I think I would stay here again instead of staying at a bigger, newer hotel just for the quaintness.

New Owners and a lot of love....

from agentjohn

This was my fourth stay at the Casas de Suenos in as many years and new owners have brought this 1930's property back to the original charm that this hotel had previously. Muli Christman is the New manager and she asked me to let all of those that have stayed with the property before know that it will be even better than before! The beautiful gardens, great breakfast and one of the best locations in town, along with genuine southwestern hospitality of the new owners are why I can highly reccommend this property again!
