First steps in Buenos Aires

So my first blog... As this is our first major travel adventure we seem to have spent most of our time theorising about what will go wrong... I guess we are going to make plenty of mistakes. So I have decided that the theme of the blog should be LESSONS LEARNED.

First stop - Buenos Aires

1. The Spanish Language can sound a bit like English but don't be fooled - simply ordering meals has been difficult. I tried ordering a vodka and lemonade (won't do that again), white wine, pepp...

We made it about 4 pm this afternoon. Its quite warm and very busy (read: hectic). But we have a fun little b&b in the up and coming area of Palermo distirct. We took a small walk this afternoon for beer and a snack. Then crashed (heavily) until about 9. (It gets dark about 8pm) We are now off for a late night snack and perhaps a bit cooler weather....

BA continued

For the past two days we have had clear sunny skies and great days of touring. Friday, since the weather had cleared up we completed the walking tour we had set out to do the previous day. The tour took us around historic areas of BA, through some lovely parks, to the national theater, BA's oldest synagogue, and to the famous obelisk. Upon ending at the Congress Building, which was modeled after the US Capital building, our feet were tired so we hopped in a cab and headed back to the hotel fo...

Bienveniedos a Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires has been a breath of fresh air with the feel of Madrid, the architecture of Paris and the buzz of New York. Since Santiago is surrounded by hills it traps the pollution and we rarely saw pure blue sky. We spent our first two days walking (and walking and walking) around the city. Tree lined streets, green parks, and chic eateries are aplenty which is a nice change from Santiago. For such a world class city it is very affordable, our first night we had a three course dinner and a ...

Further adventures in Buenos Aires

18th Jan 08 Today, Friday, I decided to have a cultural day - visiting museums and art galleries - a bit of a culture vulture on the quiet!! However, just to show that I have some balance in my day, I started off at the Botanical Gardens or should I call it the "Cat" Gardens!! It is full of all colours, makes and sizes of cats - they own the place. Apparently, the old ladies of the area feed and look after them - they are not your common old feral, mangy, bedraggled cats you would expect to s...

Buenos Aires - the home of the Tango!!

12th to 20th Jan 08 Eight Days in Buenos Aires - to learn the Tango!! Luckily, my B&B in Buenos Aires are very familiar with this scenario so were not in the least surprised - to them, the surprise was that I actually showed up!! I am in another lovely place called Casa Palermitano - it is an old style BA house with lots of character and really high ceilings - very convenient for where the action is but really quiet at night so sleeping is not a problem. The owners have made me really wel...

HOME AWAY FROM HOME!

from TTravel7
My friends and me stayed there on our visit to Bs As, it was just amazing how they treat you and how they make you feel like part of them.

Good location and comfortable room, safe place.

Near the colectivo, pharmacies, grocery stores, restaurants and even hair saloons!

I strongly recommend others to stay here!

1 night turned into 10!

We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Casa Palermitano. We feel very lucky to have been looked after so well! We felt instantly at home.

It is an extremely beautiful house, the breakfasts are superb and the owner is lovely. When we plan to visit Buenos Aires again there is no where else we would rather stay.

A & A.

Not in the Heart of Palermo Viejo

from TravelingChicagoan
I had a very pleasant experience staying at Casa Palermitano, especially considering how much we paid. My top praise is that the owner is very nice, friendly and helpful. She is what made my stay very pleasant. She makes you feel at home and is available in case you need anything. The room was clean with its own ac and heat controls and a good sized bathroom. The water pressure is low, but that was not a problem for me. Breakfast included pastries, fruits, eggs (if requested), juice and coffee and they offered to serve until 1PM if you have a late start or earlier if you have an early flight. Also, very important for travelers, a computer with internet access is available in the common area.

The only bad thing about Casa Palermitano is that it is NOT in the heart of Palermo Viejo. Though it is in a quite safe area, you are not amidst the wonderful things that you read about Palermo Viejo. But, to Casa Palermitano's credit, they never claimed this! Next time I would spend a little more to stay in Palermo Hollywood close to Plaza Serrano - where it is full of boutiques, nice restaurants, and pubs. However, if location is not a factor, Casa Palermitano is a very good choice and I recommend it. You can get around with cabs, which you can easily hail, and are inexpensive.

One more thing. There is a little lack of noise privacy, at least if you stay in the first room. There is a lot of echo and you wake up whenever anybody is talking outside your room since only a thin wall separates you from the "lobby" area, and at night regular conversations are too loud.

Excellent rapport qualité-prix pour ce B&B!

from zoézoé

Excellent B&B

from TheWorldTravel
I am a seasoned business and vacation traveller and have stayed at many different levels of accomodation from 5 star to hostels in many parts of the world. I find Tripadvisor very helpful but to date have not written any reviews. However, after my excellent stay at Casa Palermitano and given the scarcity of English reviews I thought I would let the secret out just a bit.

The location is convenient. Lorena is an excellent hostess who speaks very good English, French, Spanish (others?) and really goes out of her way to make the guest feel welcome and give them assistance in whatever they may need while in BA. The renovated (large) house is in excellent shape with some of the best bathrooms I have found for this price/level of accomodation. The breakfast is of very good quality (thank you as well to Norma) and the house itself is very well kept and charming.

If you are looking for a bare bones cheap hostel or a 5 star hotel look elsewhere but if you are looking for an excellent value for the money and clean, safe, charming accomodation in the Palermo area of BA I highly recommend this establishment.

Enamoradas de Casa Palermitano

from Lydiamexico
Gracias Loraine!! Charming & recommended

from mg74
We strongly recommend Casa Palermitano.

We just returned home from our first-ever visit to Buenos Aires and this charming b&b and miss them already.

Lorena, who runs the Casa, is warm and friendly and really makes her guests feel at home. She speaks English, Spanish, French & Portuguese. Helpfully, she called a cab for us on our return trip to the airport.

The Casa has a great international atmosphere; we met fellow travelers of all ages from all over the world during our 6 day stay.

This charming b&b with its high ceilings and wooden floors offers modern amenities.

The rooms are clean and well-lit. Tthe beds are comfy. The bathrooms are fully updated, spacious and modern, with plenty of hot water.

We enjoyed the fresh squeezed orange juice, media-lunas, seasonal fruits, coffee and tea that was our breakfast.

As we were in BsAs during the hot summer, we appreciated the air conditioner in our room, whose temperature we could adjust to our preference.

The rooms also come with free cable tv.

Another feature we utilized was the free computer access and wi-fi. Lorena even let us borrow one of her electronic adapters for our laptop's power cord.

This b&b is in a very convenient location, in walking distance to everything. Not only the shopping and restaurants of Palermo Soho/Hollywood etc, but also to the Subte (metro) to get you elsewhere in the city (just walk up Bulnes). Further, outlet shopping is nearby on Avenida Cordoba. The local cafes and restaurants near the Casa are worth a visit, too.

Again, highly recommended!

Accueil tres chaleureux

from roms

Séjour a BSAS, à Casa Palermitano

from esquimaud
