      ... of cyclists on this trip, many of them well and truly laden. Today however we came upon what was obviously 'an event'. Cyclist of both sexes and all sizes were manfully cycling up and down the steep coastal hills. We discovered they were taking part in the California Cross Classic and were cycling from San Francisco to Los Angeles in aid of the Child Arthritis Foundation. There was more whale watching. Just north of San Simeon we came down again ...

      Today was my brother's graduation. He goes to school in Ojai, California. It's a beautiful, little, lazy resort town near Santa Barbara. He graduated from middle school and I am so proud of him! The weather was perfect, like one of those you'd expect in Southern California. I used to go to school there, too, so I felt nostalgia. I had such a blast with my former teachers, though.

      ... We were running out of time, so hurried through the Berlin Wall exhibit (actual section of the Wall) and had to skip the Lincoln Exhibit. In the back is a replica of the South Lawn and Reagan's Memorial and burial place. (rant warning: it is NOT appropriate no matter what nationality you are or whatever your political persuasion to take a cheesecake photo of yourself on front of someone's grave.       ... at Nepenthe, a restaurant situated 800 feet above the Pacific Ocean with stunning views of both the mountains and the ocean. It was a magical place, and so incredibly peaceful.
