... dirt / western town streets I have become accustomed to over the last days. The real highlight of the day was, however, the smell of trees. I hadn’t realised how wonderful they smell, especially the apricot orchards and jasmine in the delta approaching Agadir. The air was filled with a thick incense of flowers, and it was the most amazing fragrance I have ever experienced.

We have pulled up for the night in the coastal fishing port of El Jadida. It was a Portugese outport in the 16th C, and they built a walled town at the mouth of an estuary. They lost it to the Muslims in the 18th C, so it is now an interesting mixture of the cultures and architecture. The views of the ocean and the fishing port from the ramparts was delightful.
