Once we had the emergency travel document sorted we took a four hour train to Kalka and then a seven hour train to the Himalayan hill station of Shimla. The train ride was magnificent as we rumbled up through the Himalaya's and 102 different tunnels before reaching the summer administrative headquarters of the British Raj.

The ''Taj Mahal'' itself was absolutely stunning and felt thousands of miles away from chaotic India. The sun, at its peak bounced off the marble and created a glorious ray of light around the entire grounds.
