      ... and the caves were good. Nadia was our guide for the caves and she was fun and interesting. We were not allowed to take photos in the cave (supposedly because the camera flash might ruin the cave paintings made by the Taino Indians but even non-flash photography is banned so I'm not sure...) After the caves there is an Iguana reserve so we got to see a few of these close up. It seems to be moulting time as they were all shedding their ...

      Its my last day as a volunteer at 180 Grados in Guaymate and we had a farewell get together by going to the river. Unfortunately yudelka wasn't feeling too well, another case of Chikungunya! (Side note: only the dominicans would write a song about Chikungunya in the dembo style - very fast-paced and popular in all the clubs) It was nice and relaxing to swim in the river and we had lunch of fried ham with plantains and a type of potato whose name I can't recall.       ... to my 1st family's house - to visit Elena. She invited us for supper one day, and of course she prepared a feast for 10 people, as always! We had a really nice visit with her, and I felt so happy to be with her once again, talking and laughing...she is ALWAYS picking on me because she thinks I don't eat anything - and she says this to anyone who will listen and laughs heartily when I fight back!

      ... one from 8-12, another from 1-5 or 2-6, and a last one from 6-10 at night. Most students attend either the morning or the afternoon session, but the 6-10 classes are offered to those students who have to work during the day to help their families survive, or who are taking care of sick or elderly family members while others are at work during the day, etc. My classes are always in the morning timeslot, which could not have worked out better ...
