I really enjoy getting to know other school parents (especially with Greg gone). I also love learning how these American families made the choice to come to San Miguel.. and how a handful have chosen to permanently move ...

... dishes, I have gained a great deal of respect for a cuisine mostly thought of as tacos and beans. For the past two weeks I've been in the kitchen learning as much as I can, from the wide variety of salsas, amazing soups, salads with noplaes (cactus) to the exotic escamole or ant egg. Escamoles were actually super good and not awkward to eat at all. They are generally cooked in clarified butter and seasoned with fresh epazote(mexican herb) and salt, spoon ...
Historical Traveler Reviews Casa Anita San Miguel de Allende
I spent 9 days at Casa Anita, and it could not have been better. Anotonio and Maru, my hosts, were wonderful, as were the comfortable accomdations. Every morning Maru serves a great breakfast, starting with fresh fruit, and including anything from eggs to Pozole, a delicious tradtional mexican dish. Every day I was still to full from breakfast to eat lunch! The location is perfect, just a block and a half from the Jardin, the center of activity in the town. Antonio is fluent in English, and Maru is fluent enough to help me with my spanish. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable, and you truly feel as if you have been welcomed into a family home. Maru was born in the house, and it is named after her mother, Anita. They graciously allow you to use their computer to check email, keep up with news, or look for local activites, and had great suggestions for things to do and how to get around town. Antonio and Maru are also aware that people have different styles of travel, from how much privacy they prefer, to what types of activites they like and they respect everyone's individuality. The rates are very reasonable, and if you prefer to experience a stay with a wonderful San Miguel family instead of an impersonal hotel, Casa Anita is the place! I will be visiting again, and I can't wait!
The best place to stay in sma
the owners are absolutely wonderful. a great mexican expericence with wonderful rooms and rates. it is truly a warm and friendly environment and your every need is taken care of before you even know you have it. i would recommend casa anita to anyone.
Wonderful Party!!!!!!!! Wonderful People!!!!!
At Casa Anita one will always feel right at home!!!! The price per night is affordable, although I would have paid a whole lot more, Antonio and Maru are the best hosts of all San Miguel. Come stay and experience it your self.
To the hosts: Thank you for the GREAT "Grand Opening" party, I had a blast and the food was wonderful. I look forward in doing business with you guys in the future. Take care.
Very reasonable, comfortable, great food
Am currently staying in SMA at this B&B. Can only say good things about it. The hosts are extremely accomodating. Place is ideally located. Prices very reasonable, food is exceptional. Have been coming to SMA for years, think have found the ideal situation for us.
We recently spent 4 nights at Casa Anita in San Miguel de Allende. Hosts Antonio and Mura were very warm and welcoming; they gave us pointers on restaurants and side trips. For guests who don't speak Spanish, Antonio went to college in the U.S. and speaks perfect English.
Maru cooked scrumptious breakfast specialties, which we ate in the beautiful courtyard. The room and bed were very comfortable, and the wireless Internet was a big plus for us. The B&B is located very close to the Jardin (the heart of downtown), walking distance to everything. With so many modern conveniences, it's fascinating to realize the house was built in the 1600s, and has been in Maru's family for generations.
We definitely plan to return and visit Casa Anita again.
When my wife booked the hotel through the internet and told me the price, I was sure we would regret the experience. But she said: "It's just that I talked to the owner, and he was sooooo nice...". Well, guess what: it was a wonderful stay for a great price. First of all, not only the owner is truly nice and charming, but his wife and daughter are also lovely people who know how to make you feel at home, from room decoration to home-made breakfast. We left after 3 days feeling we were leaving longtime friends behind. The place is simple, yet very comfortable (fridge, microwave and stove in the main suite), clean and cozy. In addition, the house is just 2 blocks away from the main plaza and restaurants, so you can park you car and forget it for the whole stay. And you get all of that for a price that makes you feel you really got the best deal you possibly could. Unless you are someone that cannot live without the luxury perks, this is a place worth giving a try.
I was visiting San Miguel for the first time. After spending a few nights at a hostel, I decided to upgrade my accomodations. My only requirements were a clean room, reasonable price and a great location (no small feat). I stumbled upon Casa Anita's giant open doors and beautiful courtyard quite unexpectantly. I was greeted by the owners Antonio and his wonderful wife. Antonio gave us a tour of the courtyard and the three rooms available for rent. I was sold! Included in my $50 room rate was an incredible breakfast for two.
Loved the owner and the accomodations
Antonio , Maria Eugenia , Ana & Don Gregorio re the all time best hosts and hostess ever. They treated me like family for my months stay. They were always available to assist in every way. The accommodations are excellent and I look forward to returning every winter.
Are you ready to be absolutey charmed? If so, we recommend Casa Anita, owned, hosted, and run by Maria and Antonio! They are wonderfully warm, intelligent, obliging, generous hosts. The Casa is located on a quiet street (Jesus) -- a great central location.
Our little suite was clean and comfortable and so affordable! We felt so lucky to have found it!! Stayed for the month of February! Got home in time for Spring skiing in Vermont!
Casa Anita....what a find! I have spent years traveling and living in various parts of Mexico. Having fallen in love with San Miguel de Allende I decided to return for a lengthy stay this time (needed to recharge after surviving Katrina). On Easter Day, while returning from festivities in the town square I stumbled upon an open door leading to an interior courtyard. There I met the amiable bilingual owner, Antonio. I moved in a few days later!
