Paradise on earth: Casa Grandview in West Palm Beach

Paradise on earth: Casa Grandview in West Palm Beach. Stay in your very own furnished cottage, swim in 2 saltwater pools, chill out on a hammock, fire up the barbeque, bikes at no extra charge, play the piano in the salon, and did I mention the unbelievable 4 star complimentary breakfasts with Starbucks coffee? The place is vegan-friendly, offering soy milk, almond milk, Archer's black bean patties from Publix and the most incredible French croissants from Cheney Brothers.

Luxury cotton sheets, Nautica towels, soft terry robe, jacuzzi bath, free wifi, beach chairs & umbrellas; there is nothing you will need, except just have a fabulous time. It's a great getaway especially for honeymooners, or couples that want to re-connect with their romantic side. You truly feel transported to a different time and place, one of southern hospitality, a slower pace of life, surrounded by good people like the proprietors Cheryl and Kirk and their cute Cavalier King spaniels.

After my bike ride (which they didn't charge for), I was hot and sweaty, so I decided a dip in their saltwater pool would do me just fine. I grabbed a diet Coke zero from my full-sized fridge (no charge for beverages or bottled water!), and had to decide which pool to swim in: the laid back one with hammock, or the more formal one with waterfall and jacuzzi? Such dilemmas (what great luck to have such choices). The sound of the waterfall, the bamboo trees, and the changing colours of the sky at sunset, made me think I was in the mediterranean. With the luscious waters lapping at my toes, I let all the problems of the world subside--Casa Grandview was true paradise.

The clientele is also interesting, having breakfast with a broker from Corcoran from Southhampton NY, a male model from Pierre Cardin, makes for interesting conversation and people meeting while you're away on vacation.

A place is about the people and this gets a 5 star rating in my book.

... 160;Some success finally - but meanwhile -  it did require a Walmart parking lot stay ( very few of them left that will allow overnight parking) one night ...which was sorta fun to go into the store at midnight to use the bathroom - then find yourself browsing!!  Another night at a service plaza on the Florida Turnpike - nicely tucked in between two 18-wheelers!!  ...plus used points at the Marriott chain to get 4 'free' nights...including the last 2 ...

... awesome tapas restaurant in Palm Beach called Buccan. We started off with champagne in the car for our 25 min drive. I was tipsy by the time we got there! We had to wait a little for a table so ordered some mojitos while we waited but when we got one we ate copious amounts of awesome food (my best was the beetroot carpaccio!) and drank a great red wine which Ally meticulously chose. Afterwards we decided to have desert elsewhere and they took us to The Breakers Hotel ...

... customs. We bypassed a line of over 200 people. A quick howdy doody at customs and out to the head of the line and she had our car brought up from the valet with a wink and a nod. If for none other of the services we enjoyed (including 35% off at the spa) the customs part was the most worthwhile. So there was never one moment of stress in the whole experience.
Now for the experience! First things first. What we didn't know was that this was a ...

... asset. Answer: When it comes to well constructed fiberglass vessels, no one really knows yet. There are many boats from the 70’s and 80’s still running around cruising. If they are heavily built (which our 2000 Leopard 45 is), and they are well taken care of, then they’ve got a lot of life in them, probably 40 years.

... and had an early lunch at a Restaurant called Havana and had great Cuban Food. Later we went to the beach and even that the weather was not that good anymore, it was still 25°C we went in the Ocean and had our first long swim in the Ocean. Before this day we always had bad weather or ice cold water but today it was perfect, the water was refreshing but not ...
