Lovely pousada away from the main heart of town, but only 5 mins walk back to the port. Comfortable and good breakfasts.

The weather has been kind to our northern pale skin. Its been cloudy and hot which has stopped us getting too burnt. It has also enabled us to do some walking around the island without getting heat exhaustion!
Abraao where we are staying is the main port and has a good selection of tourist shops, bars and restaurants, so is a good base …

As well as the humming birds, there were a few other sorts, all competing for a taste of the sweet liquid! The views were fantastic, both towards the other islands and across the bay in front of the town - it was a shame it ...

Although I hadn't seen lots of the "must see" things, was great to see some of the other sides of Rio, and some great recommendations from Cariocas (people from Rio).......And I'm definitely planning on coming back through Rio on my way North through Brazil, so it's all ...

    Welcome to Island life!

This place is seriously chilled, there is no rush to do anything here. We dedicated these days as the calm before the storm of proper travelling around. Saying this, it´s pretty hard to just chill when the heat is so dry and around 37 degrees. We followed what the locals seemed to do..go to the secluded beaches and sleep in the shade for a few hours then ´cool off´in the sea..but the sea was just as warm as land.

... to swim. We then headed to the beach close by to have a snack for lunch. As we were finishing our oranges it started to rain. Then it started to rain harder, and then harder. We had a think and quickly decided we might as well catch a boat back from the beach. It was a fairly miserable journey back on the small unsheltered boat. The evening was spent playing cards and watching a film in English that we found on the ...
