      I rode about 50 miles today on the canal bike way. It started to get a little taxing on my body, just because I'm not used to riding in dirt for that long. It was pretty flat and smooth, but definitely a different feel than blacktop. A cyclist approached us on the canal and started talking to us like he was now the leader of our group.       ... in for the night. The rain pummelled for hours on the rooftop. We remained dry. The next morning we walked up to and along the shorline in the partly sunny morning air. Heavy waves from the previous nights storm still pounded the beach. Pretty.
