Tuesday, May 5, 2015. PCT day 16 Thus far, today has been my favorite day on the PCT. Leaving mile 292, the trail follows a creek down for most of the way. First it meandered with Halcomb Creek, followed by Deep Creek. Deep Creek had good flow. I stopped and lunched at mile 301. This is one of the spots where the creek gets deep enough to cliff jump. ... mile long California Aqueduct.
The next room contains a timeline of California's history of water events plus you can take "flight" over the entire length of the State Water Project via video.
The subject of water is not complete without understanding the significance of California's Delta, a unique brackish water estuary through which water flows before it reaches the SWP's first pumping plant and the beginning of its travel down the San Joaquin Valley and ...

... and it's a big undertaking. We were done by the early afternoon and then had a festival where the members of the Quechua trip showed us traditional dances and parts of their culture. To me I felt like I should have done more work to deserve such hospitality and generosity. It turns out there were two Redlands alum who lived on the reservation so it was awesome to connect with them.

Then we headed back to Redladns the following morning after the elders ...
