... the state when we get to the south of Vermont.
When I looked at the map, I found Rhododendron State park! My Uncle Tommy was crazy about these plants, he even moved to a remote town in southern Oregon, so he could grow them better!
We took one of our shorter day trips & toured the charming Town of Keene (which Roger wants to come back & spend the winter) then we drove on to the state park & a wonderful hike that began as a 1 mile ...

... in class at a competition in California. They also have a very large selection of cheeses from the area and serve several with the wine tasting.

The drive over and back was nice, but we have realized that in this part of the US, a 20 mile drive takes 45 minutes to an hour due to the terrain and the numerous small villages you have to go through, but that adds to the drive.

Tomorrow we head north for St. Johnsbury, VT. ...

This time the road lead me to the Western part of New Hampshire, an area which I haven't traveled so far. Harrisville was one of these towns, I haven't been in yet.

In the past this area was well known for its paper mills, located on the rivers. Many of those are meanwhile closed down. Due to that development, some of the small towns here appear to be somehow "dead" and empty.
