One thing we really enjoyed in Samara was having a long lunch at the bar on the beach by the surfing school, where we watched people receive training in how to surf and then go out into the waves to put it into practice. Jim and I know just what to do now (mind you, our knees would not let us), but it was fun watching and assessing who was going to get the hang of it quickly and who wouldn't. We could go into endless detail about him, his knowledge of the wildlife around us and the park, about the fact that he is an amateur wildlife photographer and took our camera and got some of the most amazing close-up shots… About the “Hummingbird Experience” in the garden when he covered all the other hummingbird feeders except the ones in our hands and took pictures of us as the hummingbirds flocked to us like ...

After this the boys decided ...

How incredible to be stood in the fort, looking out onto the river where the battles of the pirates really took place. We even went into the dank jails where captured pirates languished!
Anyway, back to our trip; we arrived in El Castillo and headed to the beautiful Nena Lodge. We later had a chat to Nena herself who told us ...
