At our first night at an airbnb, we were made to feel very welcome by Vicki and Buddy, they showed us to a very lovely large bedroom with an onsuite. Having slept very well the next morning we left early for Gatlinburg, the second attempt! No short cuts, no scenic routes just the Interstate all the way. ... we decided to head for Knoxville.We had booked through Airbnb for tonight and needed to be there at 4pm as Vicki the owner was going out. It was at this point it all went wrong. We travelled through heavy rain,clouds and very twisting roads up and down mountains. We realised afterwards this was Smokey Mountain Pass, reaching a height of over 5000 ft.(No wonder we went through clouds) and realised were going the wrong way when we saw the Cherokee road sign ( this ...

A Day in Cades Cove

... adding to the depth of the beauty. After a brief bathroom stop we entered the 11 mile one-way loop known as Cades Cove. As was the drive from Gatlinburg the scenery was absolutely beautiful.
