(nap times one parent can go and other can watch, vice versa) - bring our own pedialite (if in a location where there's no or limited shopping) - bring a LOT more clothes for the girls as laundry is crazy priced on these ships ($1.95 per small piece of laundry - onesie, underwear, etc) - get a bigger room even if it is a bit more expensive, preferably one with a balcony so again, nap time doesn't mean stuck inside! - never book a ...

This section of road even though paved is still very bumpy with potholes caused by permafrost along the 45km stretch to the Laird River crossing. In summer Fort Simpson is accessed by using a ferry to cross the huge Laird River. In winter when the river freezes the ferry is removed and an ice road is constructed. The ferry crossing is free and only takes approx 10mins unless ...

I walk out of the bathroom, and he just takes off, backing right into me in the process. Luckily, he saw me in the rearview mirror waving frantically. They line everything up and have big ...
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada starlagurl... the 4 pm flight home. Food picks of the week: 1.Le Frolic, Great little bar with a good food menu. Try the Arctic Char 2. The restaurant at the Museum for lunch. Great views and food. Other: Museum, they have a huge moose hide boat (30+ feet) that was built in the 90's and is kept in an environmentally controlled room to keep the hide from drying and cracking. This place is well worth the time.
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada hcb... arrived on time in Yellowknife at 2:30 p.m. and my friend Catherine picked me, as she had dropped me off a year ago! Catherine drove me to my apartment (fortunately I had been able to track down a cleaner when I was in Edmonton to go in that morning) and things were pretty much in ...
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada lecklund... Highway are narrow or non existent and often have steep drop offs, the margin of error is razor thin. I spent the morning of September 23 taking photos in Dawson City and gathering information about the Dempster Highway. Since the tourist office was closed for the season, I had to rely upon the opinions of various people who I encountered. The most common suggestion made was to get a feel for the Dempster by driving it only part way. That suggestion became the ...

In April 2007, Viking Air of Victoria, BC announced the production of a "400 Series" DHC-6 Twin Otter to be built in Calgary, Alberta. Apparently the vital role of this aircraft had not been filled by any other manufacturer which led to the renaissance of this successful chapter in Canadian aircraft history. Nahanni ...
