All things Bad-ass

I've been inspired by the Badlands to make this blog post all about things that are bad-ass. Truly, I'm blown away by the Badlands. I've been to quite a few National Parks, including Denali, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Glacier, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Arches. I knew full and well what I was getting myself into when I visited those parks. I'd planned to go to Mount Rushmore (impressive in the way that man-made feats are), and we luckily stumbled across the badlands ...

Drove to Story City, Iowa today. The weather was not good today, in fact we drove through pour down rain for about 1 1/2 hrs as we passed through Kansas City and northward. The Camino is referred to as 'The road of Reflection', so maybe we will figure this ...

... nice and open, and loading in was a breeze, minus the fact that we were in an arena and had a rolling stage. The reason this is an issue is that most of our equipment has to be fork-lifted onto the stage. luckily, there was enough room for us to put in a ramp for quickly removing equipment small enough to go down a ramp.

Otherwise, the show went off very well, with load-out simple enough. On to our next adventure outside of Indianapolis.

Recovering in Des Moines

After the exertions of the Iowa State Fair and the pool hall the previous evening we laid low today. Went and saw a movie, visited the downtown area and ate dinner at Jethro's BBQ restaurant. It was featured on the TV show Man vs Food for its humongous burger...we went for the ribs and wings and were still eating the leftovers the next day. ...
