... food in they were jumping about everywhere. Jessie managed to try and distract a few of them whilst I put food into their cages but that only worked for a few seconds. We finished for lunch at 11am and made some homemade pizza which turned out quite good if we do say so ourselves. We woke up at 6am this morning to get some breakfast before starting our first day of work. It was quite cold outside although it was early. Jessie was being trained by Xavier at the "top ranch" and I was with Noah at the "lower ranch". Jessie was working with the 4 big horses they have whilst I was with a few different animals. ... Just before the lighthouse is a huge area of Public Lands. I investigated online. It is called Stornetta Public Lands, http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/ukiah/st ornetta.html. It is a California Coastal National Monument. You can walk for miles along the cliffs. It has amazing scenery!

... hour on my deck with a glass of wine. I sat watching the turkey vultures soaring in and out of the redwood trees. It was peaceful and beautiful. With a name like turkey vulture one would not expect such grace in flight, and if you see them sitting on a fence, they are seriously gawky looking, but give them some height and some thermals and they soar and circle with an elegance that is wonderful to watch. I am so blessed to have this little retreat.
