Nelson Lake National Park

... to Sabine Hut. If we get there by noon, I have a chance to make a side trip and I am pushing hard to move fast. We get to the amazing Lake Rotoroi for lunch time, the weather is at its best and will stay as such for the day. This is the opportunity to gain altitude and see what Nelson range has to offer. Adam will go around the mountain and will meet me at Speargrass hut in the evening. I am heading up to Angelus Lake, a very steep trail where I gain 1200 meters in 2 ...

... we tought. There's so much to see on the road
that we stop very often. In Wanaka we find a place with Spa and relax
bathing in the hot water and watching the sky that gets dark. Ok, let's
move again, next stop is Fox Glacier. The fuel deposit is half full then
we fill quite confortable. Never relax in New Zealand! In fact we drive
for about 119 km without finding any petrol station. We almost run out
of fuel but thanks god ...

Good as gold!

... here, and if we have they are not from NZ. I imagine it's because they all seem to love being outside and goinf tramping/hiking and doing a lot of out door activities. Also, the people here are super nice! Very helpful and friendly.

Another side note, the pictures are taking a really long time to upload on this website and we have to pay by the hour, so it may take awhile before we have them all up.

Cheers!

... br>harnesses and silly-looking leather flying caps and goggles. We then
waited for our tandem-masters to arrive. I appropriately had the
littlest one. We all squeezed into the tiny aeroplane and our tandem
master attached themselves to our harnesses at the hip first and then
when we were nearly ready to go the shoulder. It's the first time
I've ever taken off backwards... or without a seatbelt on... or without a
seat come to think of it. On the way ...

... I gave him the same jab I told Ian from British Columbia: "What is Canada anyway? America Lite?" I also told jokes for awhile, though the Swedish girls told me Americans aren't funny. And the Swedes are? Why are jokes about Norweigians short? So Swedes can understand them! On Thursday I woke up early to raft the mighty Rangitikei...Kristen slept in...Class 5 rapids are not her cup of tea. We went down in tiny 5 person ...

First rainy day - Abel Tasman NP

... the sound completely deserted, covered with golden sand that is kept smooth by the green tinted crystal clear waves. It was wet and slippery, and A2 took a bad fall on some rocks - managed to wedge herself in between two rocks, but kept the camera from falling. A guy on the trail just watched, while A2 called for B2 to help her get up (B2 had passed out of sight into a sea cave). It was like being in an old ...

03/12/2008 Nelson - Wellington - Napier

Woke up in Nelson, bleary eyed and clumsy (clumsy-er than normal). We had to drive quick to catch the Picton ferry to Wellington. Took the long way by mistake, cutting round the coast road. Was narrow and twisty. Had to pry dad's fingers from the handrest afterwards.

Wellington was... Windy :) Caught up with Brenda and Murry for late-lunch. It was good to see them again ...

... more sheltered. As the boat nearly broke in half, and I remembered that process of getting the spray deck off whilst capsized, as well as my plan to enjoy the beaches rather than kill myself kayaking my heart out, we all made the right decision to abandon this part of the journey. So, back we turned and did the who crazy 5km again down the coast to our starting point in Tonga bay. Our first morning was spent exploring Tonga Island, a nature reserve which is home ...
