After the class we got on a tractor trailer and rode up the mountain for 20 minutes to where we began a 15 minute hike to the first platform. We were surprised at the speed at which Isabella seemingly ran up the mountain. She never once complained about the path being too steep or too long. She was a real trouper and even shamed most of the adults huffing ...

... out okay. It absolutely looked like paradise, with the huge watefall and people swimming in the lagoon underneath it. Breathtaking.

In the afternoon, i attempted to go to this Hanging Bridges place. Only $22 to get in but it cost me $50 in cab fare to get there and back!!! I think the guy wanted to take the next day off or something.... anyhow, live and learn, i suppose. This place was pretty neat too with all these bridges suspended high over the jungle. Another ...

A quiet day today. Carlos left us and Nikki is with us now. The man in charge on the site had to go to a meeting so we were limited on the work we could do. We didn't want to go on to something new and then find out tomorrow that it was all wrong. We went home early and are resting up for the big soccer match tonight - Ireland vs Costa Rica. They have organised a match for us against some of the locals. Results will be posted tomorrow!

... are Baird's Tapirs (Tapirus bairdii). Anyway, my job is to extend the existing bathing area and knock 2 new doorways through the concrete walls. My extensive array of tools for this job comprises a standard hammer, a chisel and a sledgehammer with about 8 inches of handle. Already my hands are badly blistered, but progress is being made slowly and surely. I have added some pictures, more for myself than anything ...

... us were stuck in the middle of the cable as the guides tried to manually pull us in. Its one thing to be flying on the cable and a whole other thing to be hanging there for a while. ... of the night speaking with our driver so I could practice my Spanish! Then we had a great buffet dinner! The next morning we went on another hike, this time to a beautiful waterfall. It was yet another bright and early start, this time at 4:30am, and yet again I managed to hitch a ride with Ryan's tour group. Well, only as far as the Costa Rican border at Peņas Blancas. It was there that I lost them, and there where I spent my longest time in no mans land; almost three hours between borders.
