By the Sea Rosetta Boutique Bed & Breakfast Wellington

... potatoes. It was actually on the land owned by a man named Pete, which was an amazing setting. He and his family live in a beautiful home ducked deep in a gorgeous valley at the end of a gravel road. Theirs is the only home in the area, meaning it is their own private valley.

The plot had been tilled, but we had to dig the trenches by hand, which was hard work. We ended up with about 300 meters of trenches, and that was only half of the total area ...

... driving to the west coast and from Westport all the way to Haast. Along the way we wanted to stop by and see the Pancake Rocks, Franz Joseph and Fox Glaciers, and some of this famous whitebait fishing we'd heard so much about.

The drive from Westport to the town of Greymouth is definitely one of the most scenic coastal roads we've ever taken. We had heard this was a beautiful stretch and we weren't disappointed in the least. Along the way ...

I'm feeling sick. I have a cold that came on late last week with a vicious sore throat that gave way to an annoyingly runny nose, and finally, today, a humbug, general-purpose headache. Today is one of those coldly raining days so I'm not losing out too much in staying home to convalesce.

After Franz Josef Glacier we did quite a bit of driving North. Checked out some National Parks and some cool sights.

Now we are in Wellington, went to my first rugby game last night which was pretty cool. Going to check out Wellington today then back on the road . . . not much time left here in NZ!!!

... Crossing, a day hike which takes you up past Mt Doom from lord of the rings, and a skydive. Unfotunately when we arrived the weather was **** and both had been cancelled so we decided to move straight on and do it on the way back. On the way down we stopped by the Hukka Falls, a massive waterfall in the middle fo the forest. We are now in Wellington, Captial of NZ and it's very cold here so I've had to buy some new clothes. But ...

I finished up Wednesday morning, April 1, in Napier with a jog along the beach and a whopping New Zealand breakfast - did I mention their cappuccino's are out of this world? There's something about their dairy products that make everything (including ice cream) taste better. I then boarded the noon Intercity bus to head to NZ's capital city, Wellington. I was connected by a mutual friend to an American living in Wellington, Caroline. We had emailed prior to my visit and Caroline ...

Picked up our car at the airport - an aging Mondeo - not the best car so far... Drove straight out of Christchurch heading for Lake Tekapo and our first stop. All went well til we got there and found no ATM and therefore - no money... Coped with my $15 and plastic.. The cabin at the resort was right next to the lake which ...

11/02/2009 Heading to Wellington. Uneventful journey excluding a brief interlude which takes place where the world Welly Throwing record was set. There are two buses on the road at the moment so we have a bit of a competition.
