... sand treasure of the west coast. We only had 2-hour parking so we chilled on the beach for an hour then mooched around the town for an hour. For the next few nights we have booked into a motel in Newport so we drove down the coast, past Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and had a sneak peak at the Balboa Peninsular before checking in and getting comfy for the night. The next few days are going to be spent in the OC with nothing but beaches on the menu!

This made it much easier for me to go out for the day but still be able to have a shower and pack before my new check out time of 20:00. ... hotel put on a spectacular show. This happens ever 15 min during the day, and is a must see. Rose and I put a couple of dollar notes in the machines at Stratosphere, with no luck, so moved on to some shopping in the mall built into each of these hotels. Must say after the fast pace Vegas(not really our cup of tea), we were pleasantly surprised to arrive at our airnb accommodation high in the Hollywood Hills, with great views if LA. It was so quiet, and yet just a few hundred metre ...

... up just sitting on the pier people watching and soaking up the sun. When we left Santa Monica we headed straight for Hollywood and sunset boulevard. Seeing as I'd already seen all of this a couple of times I took it fairly easy and grabbed a smoothie and sat down relaxing in the outdoor mall. An interesting character came up and was chatting to me, honestly he was quite weird but kept me amused for 45 minutes or so which ...
