Since we had so much trouble on our flight out, this day was easy. It reminded me of the old saying about March, in like a lion, out like a lamb. We went to bed at 8 last night to arise at 3 am for the 4 am shuttle. We made it in record time so we got the 3:40 shuttle. At the airport the only check in open was outside and only one security was open. When we went through security I had on a top with metal decorations. It made the machine light ...

Of course we couldn’t let the last day of our trip go by without having a three ring circus crop up unexpectedly…we had been driving over VERY rough interstate roads. To those of you who are uninitiated in the fine art of riding down the road with your house attached to your engine, let me explain. You can drive over a rough road in a car and it may be bumpy, but usually you don’t pay any ...
After a two year hiatus from blogging, I will try again. I have forgotten what little I knew and am using a different device. Those who are following DWLP Travelkids and Kasnick/ Roland trip to Alaska will surely be well traveled. We begin today with what I call a drive by because we drive a lot of miles and sight see. We are not yet capable of thorough investigation of an area as Pat/ John do. We hope to give that a try by the end of this trip. We begin our pacific coast ...
Got a bit of a late start this morning and got to Shiloh 1100. Saw 45 minute film which we missed a year ago which Kathy enjoyed. Spent next two and a half hours touring battlefield to revisit major battle sites and then back to Jackson.
Stopped at Casey Jones Railroad Museum complex and took some pictures and ...
On the 17th we left Pigeon Forge and made a Costco stop, on the way to Nashville area. I believe this will be the lowest price fuel of the trip - $2.98 per gallon. This price is 40 cents lower than any stations in the area. I couldn't figure it out, the lanes were empty and gas was so much cheaper? I talked to the attendant, who was from Huntington Beach, and he said it would pick up later. He sold his house in CA and paid cash for a 3500 sg ft home in ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Butterfly Hollow Bed and Breakfast Retreat Gordonsville
Hitched in the Hollow
We had the most beautiful private wedding ceremony at this lovely little oasis in the country. David and Sharon are perfect hosts and attended to every detail. We immediately felt welcomed and at home. Butterfly Hollow is truly a special place.
In search of a tasteful and peaceful place to get married outside of Nashville, my fiance (now husband) and I reserved a weekend wedding package at Butterfly Hollow. The owners went above and beyond our high expectations for a perfect wedding weekend! Their attention to detail was second to none. The bed and breakfast was clean and cozy, and the natural surroundings were absolutely gorgeous, not to mention the delicious food. This is a wonderful place to "get away" from the hustle and bustle of city life and to enjoy a night or two away from life's many demands, whether you're getting married or just want to stay for the bed and breakfast and to enjoy the natural surroundings. We had such a memorable experience at Butterfly Hollow that we're already looking forward to planning another trip back!
My husband and I were married on October 7th at Butterfly Hollow and we can't stop talking about how UNBELIEVABLE our wedding and hosts were. Our guests can't stop talking about it either! We went to their wonderful wesbite (-----------) and found TONS of great information on all of their wedding packages. We booked the "grand affair" and couldn't have been more pleased with the price or the results. David and Sharon walked us through the entire process, incorporating my wants/needs and "standing in the gap" with decisions when I didn't know what to do. With them you can personalize your wedding as much as you want or let them take care of EVERY detail. If you are thinking about having a small wedding (now.. we're talking small here.. 14 people max. can come), you must consider Butterfly Hollow.
Find serenity and renew yourself at Butterfly Hollow
If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to go! You will find a peaceful atmosphere, beautiful scenery and two very wonderful, caring hosts. David and Sharon will make you feel right at home. I put off our wedding until I found the right place. Butterfly Hollow is so much more than I dreamed of. I did not think that places like this existed anymore. We left feeling totally relaxed and our spirits renewed. If you enjoy places that are off the beaten path, I highly recommend a visit to Butterfly Hollow.
A Soulful Experience
If you love nature and the great outdoors, just relaxing, cute animals and caring people, Butterfly Hollow is the place to plan your elopement or your next escape from the busy life. From the moment we arrived David and Sharon made us feel right at home. Their cooking and attention to detail is bar none! I cannot imagine a more romantic place to get married. They really made it feel as if the whole place was made just for us and our intimate wedding. Butterfly Hollow is very dear to our hearts and we can't wait until we can go back to visit.
The most perfect Wedding site/Bed & Breakfast you could hope to find
I cannot fully describe how wonderful our wedding was or how grateful I am to David & Sharon for the use of their lovely B&B. Butterfly Hollow is so special. Getting married there was the best decision Ian and I have ever made.
I am not a woman prone to extremes or grandiose descriptions, but this is honestly one of the most serenely beautiful spots I've ever had the pleasure to visit. And I love to travel. The hosts are living kindness. The scenery is resplendent. And the B&B itself is charming beyond belief.
I will be forever grateful for the memories of our wedding at Butterfly Hollow. We are already planning the anniversary trips to come.
A faiytale wedding...
We could not have asked for a more wonderful, perfect place to have our wedding. Butterfly Hollow not only has beautiful scenery, but two fantastic hosts, great food, and the kind of peace and serenity you just can't find anywhere else! Our wedding stay far exceeded any expectations we had and David, Sharon, Daisy, and Blossom will always have a special place in our hearts. Thanks again for making our special day even more special!

The Wedding of our Dreams - A+++++
Butterfly Hollow exceeded ALL of our expectations! The scenery, the flowers, the solitude, and personal attention to detail by our great host's David and Sharon, all seemed to wrap up into the most extrodinary wedding weekend we could have ever imagined. We would recommend Butterfly Hollow to anyone that is looking for something unique, personal, and truly a special place to say I-Do.... or to come back to and say " I Do all over again". We'll be back to celebrate many anniversaries to come!!

A++++ Far exceeded our expectations
This was a dream weekend come true. I never imagined that there could be such a slice of heaven so close to Nashville. The secluded hollow offered everything I needed to relax, recharge and reconnect. The hosts were some of the kindest, loving couple I have yet to met and their story of blowing life back into Butterfly Hollow gave me an appreciation for the farm and the two of them that I still can't stop thinking about.... two weeks after our anniversary getaway visit. We'll be back and would recommend the hollow to anyone that has a need for being in the country, riding a horse, laying in a hammock or reading a novel from a rocking chair on a farmhouse wrap around porch.
If you are interested in staying somewhere off the beaten path and about 40 minutes outside of Nashville, you might enjoy a stay at Butterfly Hollow Farm. They have an 1899 rustic restored farmhouse nestled in its own 85 acre valley. In addition to being convenient to Nashville, the farm is also located within 10 minutes of three rivers and two lakes, and many other great Tennessee treasures like the beautiful Norman Rockwell style river town of Carthage. A friend of ours gave us a gift certificate to this romantic and secluded hollow and we have not stop thinking about it since. We rode horses, walked in the woods, soaked in their outdoor hot tub and just lost ourselves somewhere in the peace and solitude. We would recommend a visit to anyone that is looking for something a little unique, romantic, personal and truly a down to earth. ... Andrew and Lisa
