After 2 nights staying at the trail angels - Warren and Jill's - place, we decided to head over to a new hostel in town in order not to overstay our welcome. Being endlessly generous they told us not to be ridiculous and invited us to a day of white water rafting in a couple of days time (being ex-rafting instructors). The first part of the trip followed the Truckee river. We have driven along this part of the route as well as rafting along the Truckee for part of it, so it was good to see the valley from a different perspective. ... just isn't fun. There is junk all over the road, vehicles are really noisy at highway speeds, and trucks are plain scary when you're not surrounded by steel and they're blowing past you. To make matters worse, they were repaving the road as we were riding.
