... in the sierra foothills, getting medical and dental checkups,  doing a couple little minor repairs,  hiking, photographing, and sorting out the future (maybe). The retreat is located way off the beaten path up a 4 mile gravel road amidst and oak forest on top of Bald mountain at 3100 ft elevation.  It is really, really, REALLY, quiet here.  No fast cars with loud mufflers, or Harley's, just the occasional chicken, ...

After 2 nights staying at the trail angels - Warren and Jill's - place, we decided to head over to a new hostel in town in order not to overstay our welcome. Being endlessly generous they told us not to be ridiculous and invited us to a day of white water rafting in a couple of days time (being ex-rafting instructors). ... by suggesting Sarah keep swimming ‘just a little further’ for the perfect picture. Despite the shrieks the water was definitely reviving and set us up for the walk back, although by the time we’d made it back to the car through more wild-flower meadows, we’d walked about 17 miles and were barely able to stand for that night’s snooker tournament. It’s almost certainly why we might have (just) lost.

... was no line at the lift so we just kept going. One of my friends joined us for a little while and we all skied together.

At lunch, we met up with friends and skied down to the condo. After lunch, Austin and his friend took the sleds and played at the snowpark near our condo. Madeline went to the candle shop and made a candle. Afterwards, we went to the Hyatt and met up with our friends again.
