We decided to stay an extra day in Biloxi, Mississippi. We went on a 70 minute shrimp boat tour in a 12 foot deep channel. We discovered a lot of stuff we did not know about shrimp. There is no magic calendar for "shrimp" season for the gulf of Mexico. It is pretty much traditionally in May or June depending on the weather. ... the storms will break long enough for us to enjoy a nearby Oyster special Tuesday with fresh oysters on the half shell and famously chargrilled ones all for 75-cents each at the nearby NOLA Southern Grill. Then the TV show we are watching on the satellite dish goes blank. I look out the window at a wall of black clouds heading rapidly towards us. We dare not leave.

Did you wonder about the name of the boat,,,,Perla? The boat was built forty or so years ago by Joey's father, Francis Favaloro. Joey's mother, Pam, would occasionally go out sailing with them and get sprayed and wet and wind blown causing Francis to tease her about looking like the old cartoon character Poor Pitiful Pearl. Also, Perla in Italian means "jewel of the sea".
