    ... Champlain. We parked up unbeknownst to us at a YMCA camp. The walk was beautiful as we trekked along the rocky shoreline of the lake, with the calm waters and green hills of New York State as the perfect backdrop.     ... two young sons. They were having a giod time - and despite their big packs, the kids were tired but smiling. Then we ran into a guy that offered to lend us his car, to drive to town and buy food. We said thank you for the offer, but did not feel right borrowing his car. He is out for the night also - looks like everyone we passed will be staying at the last shelter - 2 miles back.
