... the ground for miles, had a tomato fight, eaten my way around Europe, randomly found friends at a Florence concert, followed the trail of the monuments men, had my phone stolen, built muscles carrying my bag up and down stairs, and walked many a kilometre on walking tours. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Europe in the summer, you've been amazing! Now let's make the next 3 months ...

Düsseldorf, Cologne, Amsterdam, Brussels may not have quite the same exotic ring to it as M's Europop refrain in Pop Muzik ("New York, London, Paris, Munich, everybody talk about pop muzik"), but it's still an achievement: four cities in four days or three countries in three. ... a refreshing beer. Think of a quintessential European dining picture and that was me. In my head at least. With my hunger satisfied, it was off for some more exploring. I'd really only taken notice of how to get to the Grote Markt when I was back in the hotel room, and figured I'd use wifi at lunch to work out my next moves. Sadly lunch didn't have wifi, so by now I was travelling by instinct. It didn't really matter as I had a bit of an idea of the directions I wanted to take to get ...

I know why I came to Europe. The 11th edition of the 'Spring in Groot-Bijgaarden' Flower Show, Floralia, a modern uptake on the ancient Roman festival in honor or the Goddess Flora, is spectacular. I have to admit that our change in flight plans turned out to be beneficial. Had we gone on British Airways we would have arrived in Brussels on Saturday too late to visit the Beaux Artes Museums and we would not have ...
