Today's theme was "Travel-Palooza!" Starting at 4:30 am, let's see if I can account for it all... -Drove 110 miles from Vero Beach, FL to Orlando, FL -Flew 766 miles from Orland, FL to Washington DC -Drove 90 miles from Washington DC to Gettysburg, PA -Drove 121 miles from Gettysburg, PA to Allentown, PA I also saw the moon twice today, once on my drive up from Vero and the other while driving into Allentown. ... life and duties at an encampment. We were even fortunate to witness the soldiers fall into formation and fire two cannons three times as a demonstration of what soldiers faced while engaging the enemy. The sounds of two cannons was felt in my stomach and made me jump. I cannot even imagine being able to get used to the sound and feeling of cannons being fired nonstop during a war.

... Greencastle only has a couple underpasses and squeeze through alleys, so the town only developed on one side of the tracks. I wonder if the Chambersburg government was accused of being "wasteful" to build so many underpasses--but it paid off in the long run. Interesting how such simple decisions can affect future generations... So... that was Greencastle... My next destination is Mercersburg, to the east, ...

... See) The introductory film and the cyclorama is excellent preparation for the tour of the battlefield. Total casualties (killed, wounded, captured and missing) for the three days of fighting (July 1-3, 1863) were 23,000 for the Union army and as many as 28,000 for the Confederate army. (per the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum).
We topped off the day with a late lunch at a french cafe in town - delicious! Voted best in Gettysburg! ...
