Day 2 - The Plan

A travel blog entry by thebusseys on Apr 12, 2015

Today the plan is, after we finish breakfast, we are going to get our photos taken using original photography equipment back from the civil war era. We will be dressed according to the period. After that, we will grab lunch to go and head down via Skyline Drive thru the mountains. Due to the weather in Charleston, SC we are no longer heading that way. We will be making our way to Knoxville, TN. Or as close as we can. Today is mostly going to be a driving ...

Should be a learning experience. Then off to lunch and maybe the museum and/or a visit to the Amish country. That's still up in air. Anyways off we go until the next ...

This was my first visit to the Eisenhower Farm, one you have to take by bus from the Battlefield visitor center for a small fee.

Eisenhower’s house is significant in size but generally quite understated on both interior and exterior. Each room was separate and functional with no showy ...

... bulls and did so for 15 years. One of the barns dates back to 1887 and held haw, straw and dairy cattle stanchions and stalls. In the mid-50's the Eisenhower's had horses and ponies in there for their grandchildren. Mamie made everyone sign a guest book upon entering the house - even the grandchildren. Some of the kids would sneak in the back door to avoid signing the book - yet again!

There are ...
