... place must really be hopping during harvest time.

I don't really feel like putting on a lot of miles today. I've got a lot of stuff going through my head right now, and it seems like, sitting on a comfortable chair at Subway, staring out at the street is a good way to sort things out.

I'd really rather eat something original on my hikes rather than some fast food chain... but I'm on a tight budget, and Subway's 2.50 $ sub is hard to pass ...

... at the edge of the foothills of South Mountain--the ridge between the Chambersburg and Gettysburg valleys, and is an important apple and peach growing area.

The town also has a more rustic, frontier feel to it. No grand, Victorian style houses that I saw in towns farther east.

... to see that for folks here Gettysburg isn't just about a historical battle. People are surprisingly friendly, even though I'm sure they get tired of the tourists who clog up their roads....

... It has a humble borough building, with a sign showing it's open just a few hours a week, with the phone number for who you can call if you need a service during off hours. Looks like a much more efficient system then having an army of bureaucrats sitting around 5 days a week.
