... for. Each monument stated how many soldiers died, went missing, or was injured in each regiment during each battle. The ugly gray day added to the sadness of the whole thing. This is also where after the battle Lincoln said his Gettysburg Address which most people kind of know because it starts with "Four Score and seven years ago..." The whole speech was actually only 2 minutes long and is quite beautiful. ...

We were even fortunate to witness the soldiers fall into formation and fire two cannons three times as a demonstration of what soldiers faced while engaging the enemy. The sounds of two cannons was felt in my stomach and made me jump. I cannot even imagine being able to get used to the sound and feeling of cannons being fired nonstop during a war.

... too. Mazy and Lilly watched a beaver swimming and grazing on grass near our sites… very interested. And Mazy fell into the lake trying to get her ball - it was a little deeper than she expected.


Saturday we watched the Kentucky Derby on the outside TV… cool… enjoying Woodford Mint Julep Bourbon. Dan’s horse pick won, California Chrome! I was rooting for the female jockey.
