... was delayed by 25 mins! My layover in Detroit was only 44 minutes... And all the passengers in front of me transformed into caterpillars... Then the plane arrived at gate A5 and the outgoing flight was at A46.. So I spirited across the mile long McNamara terminal. Yes! I made it! After lunch in Cherokee, on the other side of the Smokies, we drove into North Carolina, our 12th state this trip. Late afternoon, we made it to Lulu's brother's house just outside Charlotte and then had dinner with him and his wife Lisa in Charlotte.
After dinner, we drove on for another half hour to Kannapolis.
So the adventure begins! After scrambling around the house all morning getting ready to leave, we actually left for the airport right on time. At the Greensboro airport we printed out our boarding passes and checked in our luggage. At the TSA security gate, I was checked because my braid seems to set off the heat sensor in the scan tube. Every time. No worries, I got the hand swabs, ...
When we started this adventure we liked the idea of being off the grid from "normal" life and the only grid we were on was this blog which kept us connected with everyone that we wanted to be connected with.
So, it is strange to pick up this computer and get back off the grid and back on the blog grid. Its been a while...a long long while!
To answer the burning question - are you traveling again? Yes.
When? Sunday. We leave on the 16th. Wow!
... Nascar Hall of Fame, and Charlotte motor speedway. Actually, it was Bec's idea to do the drive in 2 shifts and have a day in Charlotte, so I have to thank her for thinking outside the box on that one.
We managed to split the driving pretty much 50/50 today so we are both a little road weary. No photos either. Photo's of being between 2 semi trailers on the interstate don't make for good viewing. I can assure you that tomorrows photos will make up for the lack of shots today.
