... to our planned stop at Log Hollow Falls. There were actually two pretty waterfalls along a really nice walk. On the way back we stopped for a chat with two locals and their dog. We were once again struck by how open and friendly folk from North Carolina are! (and yes there were several "Y'all"s along the way!)

We met up with AJ (our nephew) and Allison, who are hiking the Appalachian Trail. We had breakfast together at the Apple Tree Restaurant in Marion, and they told us all about their adventure on the trail. They are 1/4 of the way through and Virginia has the longest stretch of trail. They took a week off for AJ to collect his PHD diploma, then headed back on the trail.
