... seemed like we were climbing for an eternity, mostly using 2nd gear and sometimes 1st, I managed to stall a diesel going uphill. This is a difficult task unless you put it in reverse instead of 2nd gear like I did, then came an almighty hill start with someone right up the rear of our vehicle, I have to say I said a few expletives in my haste.

... Doch die Strömung war so stark, das wir schnell wieder an Land gingen.

... as we had no ideas what lay ahead of us.. The girl at the desk suggested the abel tasmen national park and as we were stuck for time we booked a kayaking tour around the park which would give us a good insight. ... shoulders – good job we’re going to be on a ferry going to the North Island. May not get time to blog tomorrow either as we’re due to arrive in Wellington at 1 pm and then have to drive half way up North Island to be able to get to the England Scotland match on Saturday night.
