The park with ginger bread houses

A travel blog entry by my.scuba.tank

... Gretel. The unusual construction of the 2 houses at the gate of Park Guell marks the iconic works of yet another magnificent structure of Antonio Gaudi. The park allows only a certain number of visitors per 30mins for visiting the monumental area so it is recommended to buy tickets online in advance. The price for the entrance is 7 euros online and 8 euros at the entrance. The best time of the day to photograph the ginger bread houses from the top is at late ...

Barcelona: Beginning of my whirlwind tour of Spain

... big thing on the street is the large open-air market called La Boqueria. Similar in concept to a farmer's market, this place sold literally any kind of food I could imagine; we passed stands that had anything from fresh fruit and smoothies, to ice cream, pizza, seafood, and pig legs. Basically, we made this our lunch/dinner (I don't really know what it is in Spain because it was like 4:00 in the afternoon), going from stand to stand ordering ...

... the mid-1800's when the old medieval walls just couldn't hold the expanding population. The grid-like pattern of wide boulevards is made more interesting because each street corner is cut diagonally, creating eight-sided squares at every intersection. Rich, artsy folks bought up plots of land and the majority of the new buildings in the Eixample were designed and built in the ...

We have used bus and metro to get around quite easily. It's a bigger city than I thought, 1.6 million pop plus visitors. Hotel is out of the centre in a local residential area, nice ...

... enthusiastic than Jacqui about the Baroque and Renaissance sections but I loved the Modern art section.

We went from the museum to CaixaForum. Opened in 1913 as a factory but built in the Art Nouveau fashion by one of the three giants of the movement, Puig i Cadaflch who along with Gaudi and Monttaner turned architecture on its head. It has since been converted to a social and cultural centre for the city.

Off we headed for the Arenas, a modern and ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Bonic B&B Barcelona

Der perfekte Ort im Herzen von Barcelona

    from

    Ausgezeichneter Aufenthalt

    from

Perfect location, safe, clean and friendly

    from

Location! Location! Location! If that is what you are looking for, Bonic is the best place to be. Conveniently located next to the Ramblas, and Drassanas Metro Station, but just far enough to be quiet. Walking distance from most sightseeing, shopping and beach. Next to the perfect location, the safety of the place and area are also excellent. I travelled there as a single woman on my own, and felt safe every second of my stay. And all the positive things that are said in previous comments are true... Rooms are nicely decorated (their website www.bonic-barcelona.com shows how they really are), clean place, friendly people, good breakfast,... Can really recommend Bonic Barcelona.

The perfect place in the heart of Barcelona

    from

I stayed there with my boyfriend for a couple of nights...it was a great surprise to see such a nice place. Bonic is more than a Bed & Breakfast. Is a friendly place to stay while you enjoy Barcelona. The owner is simply the most kind and attentive person I ever met on a B&B type of hotel. Everything extremely clean and the decoration is very tastefull. The breakfast is delicious and complete! Not even 3 * hotels can serve such a well made bkfast. Towels, robe, linnen...everything so clean and fresh! Of couse the rooms are not big and you do need to share the bathrooms (that are cleanned several times a day)...but that's what a B&B is...everywhere! And this one has the real hotel service with a B&B price...free internet...and the owner gives you all the instructions needed...for shpping...museum...beach...whatever you need to know..he is totally aware of the city! I highly recommend the place!!!! If you are looking for good price and excellent service...then you MUST go to BONIC.

Friendly, with little luxuries at a very reasonable price

    from

Stay with Fernando and you will not be disappointed. This is a wonderfully central location but on a quiet side street. Easy access walking to things or the Metro. I liked that the Bonic is not marked as a hotel on the outside. It is like staying in a beautiful, recently restored flat. Fernando has great taste and the decorations are lovely throughout. The rooms are small but comfortable. The bathrooms are beautiful. To a traveler, nice robes and plush towels are a luxury. There is a complete and very tasty breakfast including treats from the bakery downstairs and excellent coffee (a rarity when traveling). It tided me over nicely until the Spanish lunch hour at 2 p.m. The bowl of apples in the hall was also welcome. Fernando was very helpful with the rest of my itinerary and speaks quite a few languages fluently. Free Internet access. Several reviews mention the courtyard downstairs. It is not elaborate but I would not call it scary. I would highly recommend the Bonic.

    Excellent stay

    from

We stayed in a double room with a terrace for two nights. I couldn't fault this B&B at all and the friendly service made the weekend absolutly perfect. You are greated by the owner with a cool beer and a seat in the open aired terrace. The rooms are stunningly decorated as is the whole house. Location is perfect for evenings out or to access the beach (a two minute walk). I would not hesitate to stay here again !!!

Nice little place to relax for the night

    from

I stayed for 2 nights in a single rm. A stay here felt a little like visiting with distant friend/relative in their house rather than a commercial hotel.

    Feel at home

    from

Once passed the courtyard which is certainly not in a good state...what a nice surprise: The owner welcomed us (me and my colleague on a shopping trip) at his nice place with a lovely smile and a free breakfast. Gracias! Just the best way to start a 2-day stay in Barcelona.

We stayed in a small, but nicely furnished and clean twin room. Too bad there is only bathrooms to share, but as they apparently never rent more than 4 of their 8 rooms at a time, the bathrooms should not be too crowded and were very clean.

Thanks also to Fernando, the owner, for the great advice concerning restaurants and for the extraordinary help to catch a cab in the pooring rain on our departure.

    Fantastic Place to Stay

    from

I stayed at Bonic B&B for 3 nights in October. It was very clean, the proprietors were extremely friendly, welcoming, and informative, and the setting was relaxing and comfortable. I stayed in a single room which had a full-sized bed. Unfortunately the room was without a window but it still felt quaint and comfortable; the bed was perfect for a great night's sleep. The B&B is located just off the south end of Las Ramblas so it's walking distance to many tourist activities, the beach, and many great restaurants and bars yet it is very quiet for that great night's sleep.

    Brilliant Bonic!

I recently stayed a the Bonic for 3 nights and found it to be a great place.
